Dust containment

Dust containment is a huge factor in determining whether or not a customer will choose your company for their renovation project. Many hardwood flooring companies disregard this as it increases the job estimate and can sometimes turn price sensitive work away. This is definitely a risk, but in the end those may be jobs you wouldn’t want to take on anyway. Also, larger home renovation projects where framing and drywall has been added or deleted most often don’t need dust containment on our saws or sanding equipment. We still use dust containment in these situations as it is a healthier working environment for our crews. Attached is a photo of owner Paul Smith with our dust containment hood on an installer’s chop saw. This hood has significantly lowered airborne dust. The hardwood floor is a red oak 4″ 5″ 6″.

The second attached photo is of sander Shaun Elsom using his dust containment unit on his edger. The hardwood floor is a 60 year old waxed red oak 2 1/4″.
